Competition format for UK Regional & International Qualifiers
Note: All dancers who qualified at UK Regional or International qualifiers will skip the pre-selection process and advance directly to the Quarter Final at the UK Open competition 26 (At GBKF UK 19-22nd June 26)
Qualifiers Competition Format
- Improvisation : 1 minute improvisation in Kizomba or Urban Kiz music & dance style
- Music: Randomly selected by DJs on the day
- Advancement: 1 to 3 couples advance to UK Open competition quarter final at GBKF UK 19/22nd June 2026
- Wildcard: 1 additional couple may be selected at judges’ discretion
BONUS :
Jack & Jill Competition
Special format to enter the qualifiers as a solo dancer :
- Individuals enter without partners
- Leaders and Followers randomly paired up
- Tests spontaneous dancing skills with new partners
- Couples compete together in UK Regional/ International Qualifiers on the same day
Evaluation Criteria
Each couple will be scored based on the five categories below :
- Technical Ability – Movement mastery and execution
- Creativity/Originality – New and different movements
- Rhythm/Interpretation – Timing and fluidity
- Visual Presentation – Hair, costumes, makeup
- Improvisation – Complexity, evolution, synchronisation
Scores will be in the form of a card, with 1-3 points awarded on the spot. The highest total will advance!
