Compasso, while highlighting the three types of musicality: 

Musicality, Emotional Musicality, and Musical Interpretation. 

6–Hour Intensive Masterclass Breakdown :

Hour 1: Musicality 

Fundamentals – Hearing vs Feeling the Music 

Focus: Establishing core musicality skills.

Objectives: 

Musicality

• Define the 3 types of musicalities:
• Technical response to rhythm, tempo, and phrasing. 

Emotional Musicality – Expressing how the music feels (vs. sounds). 

Musical Interpretation – Choosing how to express the music through dance vocabulary. 

Hour 2: Intensive repetition Kizomba 

Focus: Working on basic musicality within traditional Kizomba. 

Hour 3: Kizomba Interpretation and Personal 

Flavour & Focus: Adding your personality and flair musical interpretation. 

Objectives: 

Apply Musical Interpretation concepts. 

• Learn to stylize movement: texture, angles 
• Introduce footwork that reflects musical phrasing.

Hour 4: Semba Show Performance

Musicality & Storytelling 

Focus: Using Emotional Musicality + Stage Presence. 

Objectives: 

• Understand Semba Show as 

storytelling and exaggeration. 

• Translate music to narrative, use humor, exaggeration, and timing. Explore exaggeration without losing rhythm. 

Hour 5: Compasso Style 

Objectives: 

Learn a new set of fundamental from compasso style, add tools to your already strong fundamentals to not just boost your dance but to add movements tools to your dance. 

Hour 6: Integration & 

Showcase – Your Musical Identity 

Focus: Combine everything – 3 musicality types, 2 styles.
